Leh Ladakh tour packages

Our Leh Ladakh tour packages take you to one of the most spectacular corners of the Himalaya: the high passes of Khardung La and Chang La, the sand dunes and double-humped camels of Nubra Valley, the changing blues of Pangong Lake, ancient monasteries such as Thiksey, Hemis and Alchi, and, for the adventurous, Turtuk on the Line of Control and the dark skies of Hanle and Umling La.

Every Ladakh package we sell is planned around one thing above all: acclimatisation. Leh sits at about 3,500 metres, so our itineraries begin with a slow first day, include oxygen cylinders in the vehicle for the high-altitude days, and arrange your permits, environment fees and private vehicle with an experienced local driver. Hotels range from simple guest houses to heritage hotels, luxury camps in Nubra and cottages beside Pangong Lake.

Our packages start and end at Leh airport, so you can fly in from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata or any city, and we can quote flights with your Ladakh trip. For the road trip of a lifetime, we also run the Manali to Leh to Srinagar journey and guided bike trips.

Why visit Ladakh

Ladakh feels like another world, yet it is just over an hour's flight from Delhi. In a single Leh Ladakh trip you can drive over some of the highest roads on earth, sleep beside a lake at 4,300 metres, ride a Bactrian camel on sand dunes and listen to monks chanting in a 600-year-old monastery.

  • Landscapes like nowhere else: high desert, snow peaks, turquoise lakes and green oases along the Indus and Shyok rivers.
  • Buddhist culture: whitewashed monasteries, prayer flags, festivals with masked dances and warm Ladakhi hospitality.
  • Road-trip heaven: Khardung La, Chang La, the Shyok river road and Umling La are famous among drivers and bikers.
  • History and the army: the Hall of Fame in Leh, Turtuk and Thang near the Line of Control, and the Kargil War Memorial at Drass.
  • Stargazing: Hanle is part of a dark-sky reserve, with some of the clearest night skies in Asia.

Top places to visit in Ladakh

Pangong Lake

The 134-km-long lake on the India–China border, famous for its shifting colours and for the film 3 Idiots. Spend a night in a lakeside camp to see sunset and sunrise. Read our Pangong Lake guide.

Nubra Valley and Turtuk

Reached over Khardung La: the Hunder sand dunes and Bactrian camels, Diskit Monastery's giant Buddha, and the Balti village of Turtuk in the far north. See our Nubra Valley and Turtuk guide.

Leh town

Leh Palace, Shanti Stupa, the old town and Leh Market, plus Magnetic Hill, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, the Sangam and the Hall of Fame nearby. Read places to visit in Leh.

Monasteries

Thiksey, Hemis, Shey, Alchi, Likir, Lamayuru and Diskit, each with its own character. See our monasteries of Ladakh guide.

Hanle, Umling La and Tso Moriri

Remote eastern Ladakh: the Hanle observatory and dark-sky reserve, the road over Umling La at about 5,800 metres, and the high-altitude lakes of Tso Moriri and Tso Kar. Read our Hanle and Umling La guide.

Zanskar and the treks

The remote Zanskar valley, Phuktal Monastery, the winter Chadar trek and the Markha Valley trek. See Zanskar Valley and Ladakh treks. For the full list, read places to visit in Ladakh.

Shopping in Leh

Leh Market, the Tibetan refugee market and the shops of the old town are the places to shop in Ladakh. Popular buys include pashmina shawls (buy from reputable shops), woollens, Tibetan carpets, thangka paintings, prayer wheels and singing bowls, silver and turquoise jewellery, and Ladakhi apricots, apricot oil and sea-buckthorn products.

Shops in Leh usually open from mid-morning until evening during the season, and many close in winter. Bargaining is normal in the street stalls but not in fixed-price shops. Carry cash, as card and UPI acceptance can be patchy outside Leh. Read about Ladakhi food, festivals and shopping.

Evenings in Ladakh

Ladakh is not a nightlife destination. Evenings in Leh are spent in rooftop cafés and restaurants around the market and Changspa, many with views of Leh Palace and Shanti Stupa, which is lit up at night. Most places close early, and the town is very quiet after 10 pm.

Outside Leh, evenings are about the stars: on a clear night at Pangong, Nubra or Hanle, the Milky Way stretches across the sky. Bring warm clothes, as temperatures drop sharply after sunset even in summer. Avoid alcohol in the first few days while you acclimatise.

Ladakh family holidays

Ladakh can be a wonderful family holiday for children above about 5 years and for grandparents in good health, as long as the pace is slow. Children love the camel ride at Hunder, Magnetic Hill, the open spaces of Pangong and the army displays at the Hall of Fame.

  • Choose a slow itinerary: a full rest day on arrival and two nights in Leh before going higher. See our Ladakh family tour package.
  • Stay warm: choose cottages or hotels rather than tents at Pangong.
  • Keep oxygen handy: all our vehicles carry an oxygen cylinder for Nubra and Pangong.
  • Talk to your doctor: especially for infants, seniors and anyone with heart, lung or blood-pressure conditions.

Ladakh honeymoon packages

A Ladakh honeymoon is perfect for couples who love mountains, photography and a little adventure. Picture sunset at Shanti Stupa, a night in a luxury camp under the stars in Nubra, and waking up to the colours of Pangong Lake from a lakeside cottage.

Our Ladakh honeymoon package uses better hotels, camps and cottages, a private car throughout and a candlelight dinner in Leh. June to September is the best time. Ladakh also combines well with Kashmir or Himachal for a longer honeymoon.

Ladakh travel tips

  • Acclimatise: rest completely on day 1, drink 3 to 4 litres of water a day, avoid alcohol and smoking, and go higher only when you feel well. Read our altitude sickness guide.
  • Fly in the morning: flights to Leh land early because winds pick up later in the day; keep a buffer day if you have a connecting flight.
  • Dress in layers: days are warm and sunny, nights are cold. Bring a warm jacket, cap, gloves, sunglasses and strong sunscreen.
  • Connectivity: only postpaid connections of some networks work in Ladakh, and coverage is weak or absent in Nubra, Pangong and Hanle.
  • Carry cash and ID: ATMs are limited outside Leh, and you need an original photo ID for permits and checkpoints.
  • Respect local culture: walk clockwise around stupas and prayer wheels, dress modestly in monasteries and ask before photographing people.

Permits and ID for Ladakh

Indian citizens do not need a visa for Ladakh; carry an original government photo ID such as Aadhaar, passport, voter ID or driving licence. Visits to protected areas, including Nubra Valley, Turtuk, Pangong, Tso Moriri and Hanle, need a permit along with environment, wildlife and Red Cross fees. Rules for Indian citizens have been relaxed in recent years and change from time to time, so we arrange permits and fee receipts for you. Read our Ladakh permit guide.

Foreign nationals need a valid Indian visa and a Protected Area Permit for the restricted areas, which is issued through a registered travel agent. Some nationalities need additional clearance.

Important notes

  • Altitude: altitude sickness can affect anyone regardless of age or fitness. Get medical advice before travel if you have heart, lung or blood-pressure conditions, are pregnant, or are travelling with infants.
  • Roads and weather: roads can be closed by landslides or snow, and flights by weather. Keep a spare day and travel insurance.
  • Local taxis: sightseeing within Ladakh is done in locally registered vehicles under union rules, which is why our packages use Leh-based vehicles.
  • Camps: Pangong and Nubra camps have limited electricity and basic facilities, and operate mainly from May to October.
  • Environment: Ladakh is fragile. Carry a refillable bottle, avoid single-use plastic and take your rubbish back to Leh.

Ladakh tour packages from Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and other cities

Our Ladakh packages start and end at Leh's Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport, so you can join from any city. Delhi has the most direct flights, taking about 1 hour 20 minutes; Mumbai and some other cities have direct or one-stop flights, especially in summer.

  • Ladakh tour package from Delhi: several direct flights a day, or by road via Manali or Srinagar in summer.
  • From Mumbai and Pune: direct or one-stop flights via Delhi.
  • From Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai and Ahmedabad: usually one stop via Delhi.

Morning flights are the norm, and we recommend a spare day if you have an onward connection. Ask us to quote a complete package with flights. Read more in our how to reach Leh guide.

Planning around altitude

The most important part of any Ladakh trip is acclimatisation. Our itineraries start with a rest day, keep the first nights in Leh or the lower Sham Valley, and only then cross Khardung La (about 5,359 metres) and Chang La. Pangong, Tso Moriri and Hanle are higher than Leh, so nights there come later in the trip. Every vehicle carries an oxygen cylinder for these days, and our drivers know what to look for. Read our altitude sickness and packing guide and best time to visit Ladakh.

Ladakh group tours and bike trips

Our local partner runs fixed-departure group tours in the summer season, including shared (SIC) tours, all-women group tours and family group tours, as well as guided motorbike tours on Royal Enfield Himalayan motorcycles. Dates for 2027 are usually announced early in the year; ask us to notify you. Solo travellers can join a group to share costs.

How much does a Ladakh trip cost?

The cost of a Ladakh tour package depends on the number of nights, the hotel category, how many people share the vehicle and the season. A group of four sharing one car pays much less per person than a couple. Our quotes include permits, environment fees, a private vehicle and oxygen, so there are no surprises on the ground. For a full breakdown, read our Ladakh trip cost guide. Send us your dates for a free quote.
