This Ladakh 6 nights 7 days package adds one of Ladakh's most fascinating corners to the classic route: Turtuk, a green Balti village of apricot orchards and stone houses in the far north of Nubra Valley, and Thang, the last village before the Line of Control.
You begin with a restful night in Sham Valley, then visit Alchi, the Sangam, Magnetic Hill and Leh. From Leh you cross Khardung La to Nubra Valley for two nights, with the camel safari at Hunder on the first day and the drive along the Shyok river to Turtuk and Thang on the second. The trip ends with a night at Pangong Lake and the drive back via Chang La and Thiksey Monastery.
Two nights in Nubra make the trip noticeably more relaxed than shorter itineraries. Breakfast and dinner, a private vehicle, permits and oxygen support are included. It suits couples, families with older children and anyone who wants to see a less-visited side of Ladakh.

Leh is at about 3,500 metres (11,500 feet). Everyone, however fit, needs a slow first day: rest, drink plenty of water and avoid alcohol and exertion. Read our altitude sickness and packing guide before you travel.
The Turtuk day is long (about 190 km return) on a winding river road. Turtuk is a conservative village, so dress modestly and ask before taking photographs of people. Mobile coverage is limited in Nubra and Pangong; tell your family before you leave Leh.
