Your holiday

A thoughtfully planned holiday experience.

Our Ladakh family tour package is planned for families with children and for senior travellers, with more rest and shorter days than a standard itinerary. You do not change hotels on the first two nights, and the last full day in Leh is kept light.

Day 1 is a full rest day in Leh, which matters more than anything else for a comfortable trip. On day 2 you visit Sham Valley, the Sangam, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib and Magnetic Hill, which children love. Then you cross Khardung La to Nubra Valley for the camel ride at Hunder, and take the Shyok river road to a night at Pangong Lake.

Back in Leh, the last full day is for Shanti Stupa, Leh Palace, the Hall of Fame and the market, at your own pace. A private vehicle with an oxygen cylinder, breakfast and dinner and permits are included, and we can arrange vegetarian and Jain meals.

Important Terms

Package cost depends on travel dates, hotel category, number of travellers sharing the vehicle and availability; prices are confirmed at the time of booking.

Leh is at about 3,500 metres. Rest fully on the day of arrival; altitude sickness can affect anyone, and guests with medical conditions should consult a doctor before travel.

Sightseeing is on a point-to-point basis in locally registered vehicles as per Ladakh taxi union rules; the vehicle is not at disposal.

Stays at Nubra, Pangong, Tso Moriri and Hanle are in camps, cottages, guest houses or small hotels with basic facilities and limited electricity; alternate properties of a similar standard may be used.

Itineraries may change because of weather, roadblocks, landslides, flight delays, permit restrictions or local conditions; any extra cost arising from such changes is payable directly.

Carry original government photo ID for permits and checkpoints. Foreign nationals require a Protected Area Permit arranged through us.

Child policy, hotel check-in and check-out times and meal plans are as per the selected hotels.

Cancellation charges depend on hotel, camp, transport and permit supplier rules at the time of cancellation.

Cancellations close to the travel date, during peak season or for fixed departures may attract higher or 100% cancellation charges.

Permit fees and any non-refundable bookings cannot be refunded once processed.

No refund is given for unused services, nights or sightseeing, or for changes due to weather, roadblocks or flight cancellations.

Refunds, where applicable, are processed after the amount is received back from the hotel or supplier.

Why this is the right Ladakh trip for families and seniors

  • Two nights in Leh to start: a full rest day and an easy sightseeing day before going higher.
  • No very long days: the longest drive is Nubra to Pangong, broken with stops.
  • Oxygen in the car for Nubra and Pangong, and a driver experienced with families.
  • A relaxed last day: time for Leh's sights and shopping before your flight.

Ladakh with children and seniors

Leh is at about 3,500 metres (11,500 feet). Everyone, however fit, needs a slow first day: rest, drink plenty of water and avoid alcohol and exertion. Read our altitude sickness and packing guide before you travel.

We recommend Ladakh for children above about 5 years. Infants and toddlers cannot tell you if they feel unwell at altitude, so speak to your doctor first. Seniors and anyone with heart, lung or blood-pressure conditions should get medical advice before booking. For Pangong, choose a cottage or hotel rather than a tent for warmer nights.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Ladakh safe for children?
Yes, for children above about 5 years with a slow itinerary like this one. Keep them warm and hydrated, and watch for headaches, vomiting or unusual tiredness.
Can senior citizens visit Ladakh?
Yes, many do. Choose an easy-paced trip, get medical advice before you go, and rest fully on the first day.
Is vegetarian and Jain food available?
Yes. Vegetarian food is easy to find, and Jain meals can be arranged on request at most hotels and camps.
Can we skip Pangong or Nubra?
Yes. If anyone in the family is not comfortable going higher, we can replace the Nubra or Pangong nights with extra time in Leh and day trips.
Do we need permits?
Yes, for the protected areas. Nubra Valley, Turtuk, Pangong, Tso Moriri, Hanle and some other areas need a permit along with environment, wildlife and Red Cross fees. Rules for Indian citizens have been relaxed in recent years and change from time to time, so we arrange the permit or fee receipts for you; carry an original government photo ID.
