The Ladakh trip cost depends on four things: how many nights you stay, the hotel category, how many people share the vehicle, and when you travel. The biggest single cost on the ground is the vehicle, because Ladakh's distances are long and sightseeing is done in locally registered taxis, so a group of four or six pays much less per person than a couple.

This guide breaks down a typical budget so you know what to expect, with indicative package prices based on the 2026 season. Prices for 2027 will be confirmed once suppliers release their new rates.

Indicative Ladakh package prices

TripApproximate land cost per person
3 nights (Leh, Sham Valley, Pangong day trip)₹18,000 – ₹35,000
5 nights (Leh, Sham, Nubra, Pangong)₹28,000 – ₹55,000
6 nights (with Turtuk)₹33,000 – ₹65,000
8 nights (with Hanle and Umling La)₹48,000 – ₹90,000
5-night guided bike trip₹26,000 – ₹33,000 plus fuel

The lower figure is for budget or standard hotels with four people sharing a vehicle; the higher figure is for deluxe hotels with two people. Luxury and premium hotels cost more. These are indicative 2026-season prices for land arrangements only, excluding flights; your exact quote depends on dates and availability.

What a Ladakh package includes

  • Hotels, camps or cottages on twin sharing
  • Breakfast and dinner daily
  • Leh airport transfers
  • A private vehicle with driver for all sightseeing (Innova, Crysta or Ertiga, or a Tempo Traveller for groups)
  • Inner Line Permit or protected-area permit, environment fee, wildlife fee and Red Cross fee
  • An oxygen cylinder in the vehicle for the high-altitude days

Usually not included: flights, lunches, monastery entry fees, the camel ride, rafting and personal expenses.

Flights to Leh

Flights are often the biggest variable. Fares from Delhi are lowest when booked well in advance and outside the June to August peak, and can rise sharply in peak weeks and around long weekends. Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata and other cities usually connect via Delhi. Book early, choose a morning flight, and keep a buffer if you have an onward connection. Read our how to reach Leh guide.

Other costs on the ground

  • Lunch: simple meals at dhabas and cafés are inexpensive; Leh also has upmarket restaurants.
  • Monastery entry: small fees at most monasteries and palaces.
  • Activities: the camel ride at Hunder, river rafting near Nimmu, ATV rides and guided walks are paid locally.
  • Shopping: pashmina, woollens and handicrafts vary widely in price and quality.
  • Tips: for drivers and hotel staff, at your discretion.

Taxi rates in Ladakh

Sightseeing in Ladakh is done by locally registered taxis, and the taxi union publishes fixed rates for each route and vehicle type every season. Outside taxis and self-drive rentals from other states face restrictions for sightseeing within Ladakh. Booking a package means the vehicle is fixed in advance at an agreed price, with the same driver throughout.

Sample budget for a couple

For a couple taking our 5-night Leh Ladakh package in deluxe hotels, the main costs are the land package (hotels, meals, private vehicle, permits and oxygen), return flights to Leh, and a modest daily amount for lunches, entry fees, the camel ride and shopping. Travelling with another couple to share the vehicle can reduce the land cost per person significantly. Ask us for a side-by-side quote for two and four travellers.

Why packages often work out cheaper

In Ladakh, taxis are booked per vehicle and per route under union rates, and an empty return journey is often charged. A package fixes one vehicle for your whole trip at an agreed price, combines hotel rates negotiated by a local partner, and includes permits and oxygen, so it is usually simpler and often cheaper than arranging each piece yourself, especially for families.

How to do Ladakh on a budget
