Indian passport holders do need a visa for Bali, but it is one of the easiest visas in Asia. You can either buy a Visa on Arrival (VOA) at Bali airport or apply online for an electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VOA) before you fly. Both allow a tourist stay of up to 30 days and currently cost IDR 500,000 per person.
This guide explains the current Bali visa for Indians in plain language: which option to choose, the fee, documents, extensions, and the two other formalities every visitor must complete, the All Indonesia arrival card and the Bali tourist levy. Rules and fees can change, so always check the official Indonesian immigration website close to travel; when you book with us, we confirm the requirements for your dates.
Do Indians need a visa for Bali?
Yes. Bali is part of Indonesia, and Indian citizens are not on Indonesia's visa-free list. However, India is one of the countries eligible for the Visa on Arrival, a visitor visa for tourism, short business meetings, government visits or transit. There is no need to visit an embassy or submit paperwork weeks in advance: you either pay at the airport or apply online a few days before travel.
- Stay: up to 30 days from your arrival date.
- Extension: can be extended once, for another 30 days, giving a maximum of 60 days.
- Purpose: tourism, family visits, business meetings and transit. Working in Indonesia needs a different visa.
- Entry: single entry. If you leave Indonesia, you need a new visa to return.
e-VOA or Visa on Arrival at the airport?
e-VOA (recommended). Apply on the official Indonesian immigration portal, evisa.imigrasi.go.id, upload your passport and a photo, and pay by card. The approved e-VOA arrives by email, usually within a day or two. Apply at least 48 hours before you fly. With an e-VOA, you skip the visa payment queue at the airport and can often use the faster immigration lanes or automated gates.
Visa on Arrival at the airport. Pay at the VOA counter at Ngurah Rai airport before immigration, by card or cash. It works well, but queues can be long when several international flights land together, especially at night.
The e-VOA is valid for 90 days from issue, and your 30-day stay starts on the day you enter Indonesia, so you can apply as soon as your dates are fixed.
Bali visa fee for Indians
The current fee for both the e-VOA and the airport VOA is IDR 500,000 per person, roughly ₹2,600 to ₹2,800 depending on the exchange rate, with a small card processing charge online. Children and infants pay the same fee and each needs their own visa.
In August 2026, Indonesia's immigration department announced plans to raise the fees, with a higher price for the airport VOA than for the online e-VOA. No start date had been confirmed at the time of writing, so check the current amount before you travel. Avoid unofficial websites that charge large service fees; use only the government portal or a trusted agent.
Documents you need
- Passport valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date, with at least one blank page.
- Return or onward ticket out of Indonesia within your permitted stay.
- Recent passport-size photo (digital, for the e-VOA).
- Card for payment: Visa, Mastercard or JCB with 3D Secure for the online application.
- Hotel booking and proof of sufficient funds, in case the officer asks.
On a Dreamland package, your hotel vouchers and return flight booking cover the accommodation and onward travel requirements.
Step by step: applying for the e-VOA
- Go to evisa.imigrasi.go.id and choose the visa on arrival for tourism.
- Select India as your nationality and enter your passport details exactly as printed.
- Upload a clear scan of your passport photo page and a recent photo.
- Enter your arrival date, flight and hotel details.
- Pay the fee by card and wait for the approval email.
- Save the e-VOA on your phone and carry a printout.
Apply separately for each traveller, including children. Check the name, passport number and dates carefully before you pay.
Extending your stay
If you want to stay longer than 30 days, you can extend once for another 30 days. Holders of an e-VOA can usually apply for the extension online before the first 30 days end; airport VOA holders may need to visit an immigration office in Bali. Do not overstay: Indonesia charges a fine of IDR 1,000,000 per day for overstaying, and longer overstays can lead to deportation.
Two more formalities: the arrival card and the tourist levy
All Indonesia arrival card. All international arrivals must fill in a free online declaration covering immigration, customs and health, within 3 days before arrival. It replaced the old paper customs form and health pass.
Bali tourist levy. Since February 2024, foreign tourists visiting Bali pay a one-time levy of IDR 150,000 per person, online before arrival or at the airport.
Both are explained step by step in our guide to the All Indonesia arrival card and Bali tourist levy.
At Bali airport
After landing at Ngurah Rai International Airport, e-VOA holders go straight to immigration, while others first pay at the VOA counter. The officer checks your passport, visa and return ticket, and you then collect your bags and pass customs, where your arrival card QR code may be scanned. Our driver meets you outside the arrival hall for your private transfer. Read our Bali travel tips for more on the airport, money and SIM cards.
Bali and Singapore or Malaysia on the same trip
If you combine Bali with Singapore, remember that Singapore needs a separate visa applied for in advance, and each country has its own arrival card. Malaysia currently allows Indians to visit visa-free until the end of 2026. Your Indonesian VOA is single-entry, so if you leave Bali and return, you need a new one.
