Getting to Bali from India has never been easier. Non-stop flights now link Delhi and Bengaluru with Bali, Mumbai has seasonal direct services, and every major Indian city has convenient one-stop connections through Singapore, Kuala Lumpur or Bangkok.

This guide explains how to reach Bali from India: which airlines fly direct, how long the flight takes, the best connecting routes from other cities, and tips for finding good fares. Schedules and fares change often, so check current timings when you book; we are always happy to quote flights with your Bali package.

Bali's airport

All international flights land at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS), also called Denpasar airport, in south Bali. It sits next to Kuta, about 10 minutes from Kuta's hotels, 20 to 30 minutes from Seminyak and Nusa Dua, and around 1 to 1.5 hours from Ubud depending on traffic. Bali is 2.5 hours ahead of India, so a flight that leaves Delhi in the evening typically arrives in Bali the next morning local time.

Direct flights from India to Bali

  • Delhi to Bali: Air India and IndiGo operate non-stop flights. The journey takes around 7 to 7.5 hours.
  • Bengaluru to Bali: IndiGo flies non-stop, in roughly 6 hours.
  • Mumbai to Bali: IndiGo has operated seasonal non-stop flights; at other times, Mumbai travellers connect via Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok or Delhi.

Direct flights save several hours and the stress of a connection, which is especially valuable for families and honeymooners. They also tend to sell out early around Diwali, Christmas and the summer holidays, so book well ahead.

Delhi to Bali flights

Delhi to Bali flights are the most searched route from India. Besides the non-stop options, popular one-stop routes include Singapore Airlines and Scoot via Singapore, Malaysia Airlines, Batik Air and AirAsia via Kuala Lumpur, and Thai Airways via Bangkok. One-stop journeys usually take 10 to 14 hours including the connection. A good connection can be cheaper than a direct flight and lets you add a stopover in Singapore or Kuala Lumpur.

Mumbai to Bali flights

For Mumbai to Bali flights, check whether the seasonal non-stop is operating on your dates. Otherwise, the quickest options are via Singapore or Kuala Lumpur, both with several daily flights from Mumbai and short onward hops to Bali of about 2.5 to 3 hours. Connections via Bangkok and Delhi are also common. Total travel time is usually 10 to 13 hours.

From Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Kochi and other cities

From other Indian cities, Bali is usually one stop away. Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Kochi and Tiruchirappalli have frequent flights to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, from where Bali is a short flight. Travellers from Ahmedabad, Pune, Jaipur, Lucknow and other cities can connect via Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru or a Southeast Asian hub. When comparing routes, look at the total journey time and the connection time; a layover of 2 to 4 hours is comfortable.

Tips for cheaper Bali flights

  • Book 6 to 10 weeks ahead, and earlier for Diwali, Christmas, New Year and May–June.
  • Travel mid-week and avoid Friday and Sunday departures when possible.
  • Compare direct and one-stop fares; a connection via Singapore or Kuala Lumpur can be much cheaper.
  • Check baggage rules on low-cost carriers; checked bags and meals are often extra.
  • Consider shoulder months such as April, May, June, September and October, which offer good weather and better fares.

Bali package with flights

Our Bali tour packages are land-only by default, which lets you use airline miles or choose your preferred airline. But we can quote a complete Bali package with flights from your city, matching the flight times to your hotel check-in and airport transfers. Tell us your departure city and dates and we will suggest the best combination.

Stopover ideas on the way to Bali

A one-stop flight is also a chance for a short stopover. Singapore is the most popular: two or three nights for Sentosa, Universal Studios and Gardens by the Bay before continuing to Bali. Kuala Lumpur works well for the Petronas Towers, Batu Caves and Genting Highlands, and Indian passport holders can currently visit Malaysia without a visa. Bangkok is another easy add-on. We can combine any of these with your Bali package and match the flights; see our Singapore tour packages.

Arriving late at night

Some flights land in Bali late in the evening or after midnight. Immigration queues can be long when several international flights arrive together, so having your e-VOA, arrival card and levy done in advance saves a lot of time. On our packages, the airport driver tracks your flight and waits for you, and we can arrange an early check-in if your flight lands in the morning.

Before you fly

Remember the three Bali formalities: your Visa on Arrival or e-VOA, the free All Indonesia arrival card within 3 days before arrival, and the Bali tourist levy of IDR 150,000. See our Bali visa guide for Indians and arrival card and levy guide. For the best season, read best time to visit Bali.
