Andaman islands tourism packages revolve around three places. Here is how each one feels, so you can decide how many nights to give it.

Port Blair (Sri Vijaya Puram): history and the gateway. Most visitors land here. The Cellular Jail and its evening light and sound show are the heart of the day, and Ross Island (Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Dweep) and North Bay make good half-day excursions. Corbyn's Cove is an easy beach stop. One night is usually enough at the start; a second works well at the end of a longer trip.

Havelock (Swaraj Dweep): the beaches. This is where most of an Andaman trip is spent. Radhanagar Beach is the famous sunset spot; Elephant Beach is the usual snorkelling stop; Kalapathar and Vijaynagar are quieter. Give it two nights if you can, so you are not rushing between activities. Optional scuba, snorkelling, sea walks and glass-bottom boat rides are weather and sea-condition dependent.

Neil (Shaheed Dweep): the slow island. Shorter distances and fewer crowds. Bharatpur, Laxmanpur and Sitapur beaches are the main stops, and the Natural Bridge depends on the tide. It is the island where itineraries slow down, so plan an unhurried afternoon here.

Beyond the main loop. Baratang (limestone caves and a mud volcano) is a long day and fits longer packages. Diglipur, Ross and Smith Islands and Barren Island are for longer or specialist trips, subject to permissions, sailing availability and weather.

Best time to visit, trip cost and permits

Best time to visit Andaman Nicobar. October to May is the season, with November to April the most popular for beaches, sightseeing and water activities. Permits and ID. Indian citizens do not need a visa for Andaman, but you must carry valid government-issued photo ID for airport, hotel and ferry check-ins. International travellers should check whether their planned islands need a Restricted Area Permit (RAP), as rules differ by nationality and island.

Plan your Andaman holiday with time for island transfers and relaxation. When comparing Andaman tour packages, check the ferry arrangements, hotel locations, sightseeing inclusions and optional activity charges.

1. Book early: Arrange flights, ferries and your preferred island hotels in advance, especially for peak-season travel. Check whether your Andaman package includes airfare or covers land arrangements only.
2. Allow time for ferry transfers: Ferry timings shape journeys between Port Blair, Havelock and Neil Island. Avoid tightly packed sightseeing plans or close connections between an inter-island ferry and your flight home.
3. Pack for the beach: Bring lightweight clothing, swimwear, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, comfortable footwear and a waterproof phone pouch. Carry your regular medicines and valid photo identification.
4. Keep essentials accessible: Save offline copies of hotel confirmations, ferry tickets and your Andaman tour itinerary. Carry some cash for smaller purchases, as connectivity and payment facilities can vary.

Visa Info

For Indian travellers: Indian citizens do not need a visa for an Andaman holiday. Carry valid government-issued photo identification for airport, hotel and ferry check-ins, and confirm the documents required by your airline and ferry operator before departure.

For international travellers: Carry a valid passport and the Indian visa or other entry authorisation applicable to your nationality and status. Before booking Andaman tour packages, check whether your planned island visits require a Restricted Area Permit (RAP).

Current official guidance provides RAP exemptions for 29 designated islands and day-visit exemptions for another 11 islands, valid until 31 December 2027. Special restrictions continue to apply to citizens of Afghanistan, China—including Hong Kong and Macau—and Pakistan, as well as foreign nationals originating from these countries. Advance RAP approval is required for these travellers.

When choosing Andaman and Nicobar tour packages, check the islands included in your itinerary. Permit exemptions do not provide unrestricted access to every island or protected area. Confirm the latest entry requirements before finalising your travel arrangements.

Important Notes

1. Itineraries may change: Andaman tour itineraries depend on ferry schedules, sea conditions, weather and local permissions. Ferry delays or cancellations may require changes to sightseeing, transfers or overnight stays.
2. Allow time around flights: Keeping your first and last night in Port Blair (Sri Vijaya Puram) can make flight and ferry coordination easier. A final night in Port Blair provides a buffer before your flight home, although it cannot eliminate disruption risks.
3. Weather affects activities: Monsoon travel may bring heavy rain, rough seas and fewer opportunities for water sports. Island excursions, beaches and national park visits are subject to operating schedules, seasonal closures and local restrictions.
4. Check hotel facilities: When comparing Andaman packages, review the specific hotel and room category. Room sizes, dining choices, Wi-Fi, hot water, power backup and service availability can vary between properties and islands.
