Every Indian passport holder needs a Singapore visa before travelling, whether for a 2-night stopover or a week-long family holiday. The good news is that it is one of the simplest visas to get: there is no interview, no fingerprinting in India and no embassy visit. You apply online through an authorised visa agent, and most tourist visas are issued within 3 to 5 working days.
This guide explains the current rules for Indians in 2026: who needs a visa, the fees, the documents and photo size, how long it takes, how long you can stay, and when you can transit without a visa. Rules change from time to time, so always check the latest information with your agent or the Singapore High Commission before you apply.
Do Indians need a visa for Singapore?
Yes. Holders of ordinary Indian passports need a visa to enter Singapore for tourism, business or visiting family. There is no visa on arrival and no visa-free entry for Indian tourists. The only exceptions are holders of diplomatic and official passports, and travellers who qualify for the 96-hour Visa-Free Transit Facility described below.
If you are searching for a Singapore visa on arrival for Indians, the short answer is that it does not exist; you must have your e-visa before you board your flight. Airlines check this at check-in in India.
How to apply: e-visa through an authorised agent
Singapore no longer accepts walk-in visa applications at its High Commission in New Delhi or its Consulates in Mumbai and Chennai. Instead, applications are submitted through the electronic visa (e-visa) system by authorised visa agents appointed by the Singapore government. These include many large travel companies; your tour operator can apply on your behalf through an authorised agent.
- Collect your documents (see the checklist below) and send scanned copies to your agent.
- The agent submits your application online and pays the visa fee.
- Your e-visa is emailed to you as a PDF once approved. Print a copy and carry it with your passport.
- Submit the SG Arrival Card online within 3 days before you land (it is free and separate from the visa).
You can apply up to 30 days before your arrival date. Applying too early may mean the visa is not processed.
Singapore visa fees for Indians
From 1 January 2026, the Singapore government visa fee for Indian applicants is ₹2,100 per application. It is paid upfront and is not refunded if the visa is refused. Authorised agents charge a service fee on top; the Singapore Consulate in Mumbai lists this as ₹1,300 per application at the time of writing. So expect to pay about ₹3,400 per person in total, plus any courier or convenience charges your agent adds. Children and infants pay the same fee as adults.

Documents required
- Passport: a copy of the bio-data page. Your passport must be valid for at least six months from the date you enter Singapore, with blank pages for stamps.
- Form 14A: the visa application form, completed and signed. Your agent will usually prepare it from your details.
- Photograph: one recent colour passport photo taken within the last three months (see the size rules below).
- Letter of introduction (Form V39A): required in some cases, issued by a local contact in Singapore. Your agent will tell you whether you need one.
- Supporting documents, if asked: confirmed return flights, hotel booking or tour voucher, and sometimes bank statements, an employment letter or income tax returns.
Documents in Hindi or another regional language must be translated into English. The High Commission can ask for additional documents in any case.
Singapore visa photo size
Photo rules are the most common reason for a visa application being sent back. The photo must follow the ICA photo guidelines: 35 mm wide by 45 mm high, in colour, with a plain white background, taken within the last three months. Look straight at the camera with a neutral expression, eyes open and clearly visible, and your full face in view. Do not wear spectacles with glare, hats or headgear (except for religious reasons, provided your face is fully visible), and do not edit or filter the photo.
Processing time
Singapore tourist visas usually take 3 to 5 working days, not counting the day of submission, weekends and public holidays. Some applications take longer, especially during peak travel months such as May, June, October and December, so we recommend applying 2 to 3 weeks before travel, but not more than 30 days before your arrival date.
How long can you stay?
The visa allows you to travel to Singapore; the length of your stay is decided by the immigration officer when you arrive and is shown on the electronic visit pass you receive. For tourists with a return ticket, this normally covers the length of the trip. If you need to stay longer, you can apply online for an extension at least 5 working days before your visit pass expires. Some e-visas allow multiple entries, which is useful if your trip goes Singapore, Malaysia and back to Singapore; check the entry type on your e-visa.
The 96-hour Visa-Free Transit Facility (VFTF)
Indians in transit through Singapore may not need a visa if they qualify for the Visa-Free Transit Facility. You can stay up to 96 hours if you:
- are travelling to or from a third country (not returning to the country you came from);
- hold a confirmed onward air, ferry or cruise ticket leaving Singapore within 96 hours; and
- hold a valid visa or long-term pass, valid for at least one more month, from Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Switzerland, the United Kingdom or the United States. Visas issued by Germany or Switzerland, and Schengen visas valid for those countries, carry additional conditions.
You must leave Singapore by air or sea, and the stay cannot be extended. Immigration officers make the final decision at the airport, so if in doubt, apply for a regular visa.
Tips to avoid delays or refusal
- Make sure names and passport numbers match exactly across your application, flights and hotel bookings.
- Use a correct, recent photo; it is the single most common reason for applications being returned.
- Apply only through an authorised agent; unofficial websites may charge extra and cannot submit applications.
- Keep your e-visa printout, return ticket, hotel details and SG Arrival Card acknowledgement handy at Changi.
- If a previous visa was refused, tell your agent; you may need extra documents.
Visas for Singapore and Malaysia trips
Planning to combine Singapore with Malaysia? Indian passport holders currently enter Malaysia without a visa for stays of up to 30 days, under an exemption that runs until 31 December 2026. You still fill in the free Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) before arriving. If your trip goes Singapore, then Malaysia, then back to Singapore, check that your Singapore e-visa allows more than one entry.
