The Burj Khalifa is the symbol of modern Dubai. At 828 metres, it has been the world's tallest building since it opened in 2010, and the view from its observation decks, over the desert, the Gulf and the city's other skyscrapers, is unforgettable. At its foot are Dubai Mall, one of the largest shopping centres on Earth, and the Dubai Fountain, which dances to music every evening.

This guide explains the different Burj Khalifa tickets, how much they cost, the best time to go, and how to make the most of Dubai Mall and the fountain.

Burj Khalifa observation decks

  • At the Top (levels 124 and 125): the classic visit, about 450 metres up, with indoor and outdoor viewing areas and telescopes. This is the ticket included in most packages.
  • At the Top SKY (level 148): at 555 metres, one of the highest observation decks in the world, with a quieter lounge, refreshments and a guided experience, plus access to levels 124 and 125.
  • The Lounge (levels 152 to 154): the highest and most exclusive experience, with a luxurious lounge, drinks and canapés.

The ride up is part of the fun: the lifts travel at about 10 metres per second and reach level 124 in around a minute.

Burj Khalifa ticket prices

Prices depend on the level and the time slot. As a guide, published winter prices in 2026 were around:

Best time to visit the Burj Khalifa

Sunset is the most popular and most expensive time, as you see the city in daylight, at sunset and as the lights come on. Book sunset slots several days ahead in peak season. Morning slots are cheapest and least crowded, with the clearest views on dry winter days. Evening visits show the city lights and let you combine the Burj with the Dubai Fountain show.

Avoid hazy or dusty days if you can, as visibility drops. Allow about 1.5 hours for the visit, including security and queues.

Tips for your visit

  • Arrive 15 to 20 minutes before your slot; the entrance is on the lower ground floor of Dubai Mall.
  • Bags are screened; large luggage, tripods and food are not allowed.
  • Children under 4 usually go free on standard tickets.
  • Fast-track tickets are available if you want to skip queues.
  • Combine the visit with the Dubai Aquarium, the fountain show and dinner in Downtown.

Dubai Mall

Dubai Mall has around 1,200 shops, from luxury brands to high-street fashion, plus a huge food court and many restaurants with Indian options. Inside, you will find:

  • Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo: a giant tank with sharks and rays, visible free from the mall, with a tunnel and zoo for ticket holders.
  • Dubai Ice Rink for skating.
  • VR Park and KidZania for children and teens.
  • The Souk area, a waterfall and a dinosaur skeleton.

The mall is connected to the Dubai Metro by an air-conditioned walkway from Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall station.

Dubai Fountain show times

The Dubai Fountain on Burj Lake is the world's largest choreographed fountain, shooting water up to about 150 metres in time to Arabic, international and Bollywood music. Shows usually run in the early afternoon and then every 30 minutes from around 6 pm to 11 pm, and they are free to watch from the waterfront promenade. For a closer view, take the short Dubai Fountain boat ride or the boardwalk on the lake.

Facts about the Burj Khalifa

  • Height: 828 metres, with more than 160 storeys.
  • Opened: January 2010, after about six years of construction.
  • Design: inspired by the desert flower Hymenocallis, with a Y-shaped plan that reduces wind forces.
  • Records: the world's tallest building and tallest free-standing structure, with some of the world's highest observation decks.
  • Light shows: the façade becomes a giant LED screen for celebrations, including Diwali and Indian Independence Day.

New Year's Eve at the Burj Khalifa

The Burj Khalifa's New Year's Eve fireworks are among the most famous in the world. Downtown becomes extremely crowded, roads close early and many viewing areas need tickets or restaurant bookings. For a calmer view, consider a dhow cruise or a hotel with a skyline view. Book months ahead if you plan to be in Dubai for New Year.
